Frequently asked questions
Pickup from city centre hotels is between 08:00 and 08:30, and the drive to the sanctuary takes about an hour and a half. You are dropped back in Chiang Mai at around 18:30.
Every guest drives their own quad bike, so you need to be able to steer and brake on dirt trails; a guide rides at the front and sets the pace. The minimum age is 15 (riders from 15 pay the adult price), and children cannot ride along as passengers. If you have never ridden a quad bike, tell us when you book.
The rafting takes 45 to 60 minutes on the Mae Taeng river with the sanctuary's rafting crew; in the rainy season the river runs faster, so it can be quicker. If you are not a confident swimmer, tell the office when you book so the guide knows.
Light clothes that can get wet and muddy, plus sandals or water shoes that stay on your feet. Bring a full change of clothes and a towel for the ride home.
The day goes ahead in light rain. Heavy rain can change the river activities, and the guide decides on the day.
