Buddy Tours' one day trek packs the best parts of a multi day program into a single day, with no night away and no heavy walking. Buddy Tours has been running treks out of Chiang Mai since 1993 with licensed trekking guides, and this day trip is its most popular format for people short on time.

You are picked up from your hotel or guesthouse between 08:00 and 08:30 and travel by air conditioned van. The day starts with about an hour to an hour and a half of feeding and bathing the elephants. Then comes roughly an hour of jungle trekking, an hour of bamboo rafting down the river, a swim at a waterfall and a visit to a Karen hill tribe village. Lunch is included. You are back in Chiang Mai at about 17:30.

The program suits families, solo travellers and anyone who wants an active day without a serious hike. Transport, lunch and accident insurance are included, and you need to bring a copy of your passport identification page for the insurance. Wear shoes you can walk in, take swimwear for the elephants and the waterfall, and pack shorts and sandals for the raft. Treks run daily and the supplier guarantees a place whether you come alone or with a group.

Bookings open up to 180 days ahead; the latest date you can book is Wed 21 Apr 2027.
